Connecting iRig BlueBoard using MIDI over Bluetooth Modes
With the latest firmware update, the iRig BlueBoard is designed to now appear as a MIDI over Bluetooth compatible device on compatible devices (and in compatible apps). If you're not sure if you're up-to-date, and what the different modes do, check out the FAQ here. To enter a MIDI over Bluetooth Mode power on the iRig BlueBoard holding the "B" or "C" pads. These will enter MIDI over Bluetooth Mode 1 and Mode 2. To exit the MIDI over Bluetooth mode and use the iRig BlueBoard app, power on the device holding the "A" pad.
Once powered up in a MIDI over Bluetooth mode, try these steps to get connected.
For iOS devices:
- Download & launch a compatible MIDI over Bluetooth app, like MIDI Wrench
- Open the MIDI Wrench Settings and open the MIDI Over Bluetooth section
- Connect with the iRig BlueBoard using the MIDI Wrench (or the MIDI over Bluetooth app of preference) using this menu.
For macOS devices:
- Open a Finder window
- Go to your Applications folder
- Inside here open the Utilities folder
- Find and open the Audio/MIDI set up
- Inside this app use the VIEW tab to access MIDI devices
- Once here you will see a Bluetooth option double click this
- Now turn ON your iRig BlueBoard holding down the B or C button (These will be MIDI over Bluetooth modes. Check your User Manual for more information on this topic.)
- Now, inside the Bluetooth window you will see your iRig BlueBoard available
- Once paired here, this device will operate like any wired MIDI device
*Note, the iRig BlueBoard will not connect to the iOS or macOS Settings directly.
**Windows devices are not officially compatible with iRig BlueBoard.
